2010 L'Héritière, Domaine du Salvard, Loire, France, Cheverny
The vineyard covers 24 villages in the south of the Loire between Tours and Orléans, more specifically between Sologne and Touraine Loir et Chérienne.
Of the 500 hectares comprising the Appellation Cheverny, this Domaine operates 40 hectares of which 90% are planted with Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay. The remaining 10% are planted with red grape varieties: Pinot Noir and Gamay.
The vines are grown on hillsides and plateaus consisting of flint clay or silt quartz.
Manual harvesting. Vines are 60 years old. Low yield of 30 hl/ha.
Fermented and aged 13 months in new oak barrels of which 1/3 are American barrels (Seguin-Moreau), 1/3 Russians barrels (Seguin-Moreau) and 1/3 barrels of French Troncais (Vicard).
No filter, no sulfite added, no sticking. Light filtration before bottling.
