1999 Château Tour Saint-Bonnet Cru Bourgeois, Bordeaux, France, Médoc

Owned by the family Merlet-Lafon.

In 1519 appears for the first time in a text a reference to the estate of Saint-Bonnet. It then belongs to the family de Minvielle. The manor of Saint-Bonnet then changes hands again: from the family Galisson to the de Beyres, of which John de Beyres had a significant trading activity in Bordeaux.

In the notes of notary Maître Grenier at Bordeaux, we see plenty of acts dedicated to John de Beyres, he lended a lot of money and bought a lot of barrels. In 1624 he bought several parcels of land to enlarge the domain of Saint-Bonnet. Then Saint-Bonnet belongs to the families Desaigues, de Maignol, Guitard, Caravan and Leboeuf.

In 1903 Etienne Andre Lafon bought the estate for sale from the court, made at the request of the creditors of the family Leboeuf. Today his granddaughter and her husband, Mr. & Mrs. Merlet-Lafon, assisted by their children, run the Château Tour Saint-Bonnet.

The estate has an area of 40 ha. Planting of grape varieties: merlot 45%, cabernet 45%, petit verdot 5%, malbec 5% with an average age of 35 years for the vines. Exposition: on the hill side and valley with a lot of stones in the soil. Type of fermentation tanks: cement. Type of tanks for the aging: wood.
