2012 La Charmette, Domaine Chauveau, Loire, France, Pouilly-Fumé

Coming from a wine growers family since several generations, Benoit Chauveau has taken over part of the vineyard from his parents in 1995, and his grandparents in 1997. Since 2000 his wife joined her husband.

The domain is composed of a dozen hectares located in the municipality of Saint-Andelin on different types of soil (marl, clayey and calcareous de Villiers).

Field pest management (using a minimum of treatment products based on the vine disease) and a commitment to make quality wines by careful monitoring.

The imestones Villiers are formed out of a large amount of white pebbles. This good draining land draining warms up quickly in spring and allow early maturity. The wines shows freshness and fruity aromas that express themselves very quickly. The Marnes (small oysters) contain many fossils. Containing more clay, these soils take longer to warm up and take longer to reach maturity. They give Pouilly Fumé’s with complex aromas, developing gradually.

Maturing on fine lees for 6-8 months.
