2020 MCMLV, Domaine du Bouchot, Loire Valley, France, Pouilly-Fumé AOC
The Domaine du Bouchot is located in Saint-Andelain, at the heart of Pouilly-Fumé. Founded by Rachel and Pascal Kerbiquet and now run by their son Antoine, the estate follows demanding organic and biodynamic practices. Indigenous fermentations, minimal sulphur additions and the absence of corrective additives produce mature, textured Sauvignon Blancs that faithfully express the limestone terroir of Pouilly.
The name MCMLV (1955 in Roman numerals) refers to the year the vineyard parcel was planted. This single-vineyard cuvée comes from old vines rooted in marl and limestone soils. Hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentations and ageing in neutral vessels, seasoned oak, amphorae or concrete, depending on the vintage, preserve the wine’s authenticity and terroir.
