The Alsace wine region is located in the northeast of France. Dopff & Irion is one of the oldest and most famous wine producers in the region. Dopff & Irion is located in the medieval town of Riquewihr. The vineyard covers about 27 hectares and vineyards are south facing. The soil of Alsace is rich and varied. Soil types you encounter include slate, sandstone, volcanic rock , granite, but the most common types of soils are surely limestone and calcareous sandstone. Each soil type is suitable for other types of grapes, which is why this area can produce many kinds of wines.

Pinot Gris produces a very rich, almost voluptuous wine with a discrete bouquet and a long lingering aftertaste. The vineyards where the grapes of Pinot Gris are grown are located above the town of Riquewihr in the "Haut Rhin”. After harvesting, the grapes are pressed immediately and then transferred to tanks where sedimentation takes place. The wort ferments in stainless steel tanks with a permanent control of temperature. Because of these strict controls, the wine retains its fresh character.
