2003 Château La Clotte-Cazalis, Bordeaux, France, Sauternes

This domain is in the hands of the Lacoste family since 1779. Lacoste Bernadette and her daughter Marie-Pierre, a young agronomist and oenologist, have revived the area in 2001. It was until then under operated rent. A brand new winery was built and equipped with small stainless steel vats.

5 ha of old vines are ideally located south of Barsac, at the confluence of the Garonne and Ciron. Therefore, they can take full advantage of the microclimate necessary to obtain the noble rot. The soil is gravelly with a subsoil with clay and limestone. The vines are Semillon (95%) and a little Sauvignon (5%). Age of vines: 50 years. Planting density of 7200 vines per hectare.

Respectful culture for the environment, follows the principles of sustainable agriculture. Manual harvesting is done in 4-6 rounds depending on the vintage, to pick each time only the grains which have reached the optimal level of noble rot. The yield per hectare is between 10 and 20 hl / ha.
