Located at Lussac -Saint- Emilion , Gironde , Château Lucas produces high qualitaty wines of Bordeaux. From generation to generation, the Vauthier family has retained his passion for wine, the vineyards and the earth. Frederic Vauthier, in charge of the operation at Château Lucas for 20 years, has adapted the family know-how to new techniques of cultivation and vinification . The wines produced at Château Lucas possess the AOC Lussac -Saint- Emilion and are regularly rewarded by juries of professionals who make of them award-winning wines.
At the Château Lucas 10 acres of the property are devoted to this production of 70 000 bottles. The wine is a blend of 50 % Merlot and 50 % Cabernet Franc . The grapes are partially harvested manually, the other part by machine. Since the vintage 2000, 15 to 20% of the wine ages in barrels before enriching the rest of the wine.
The soil consists of clay and silty limestone. The average age of the vines is 25 years. The vineyard is cultivated by rational control without use of insecticides or herbicides.
