2013 - 2018 Vertical Gigondas, Bertrand Stehelin, Rhône Valley, France, Gigondas AOC

Today, UpperWine offers you an exceptional experience. We have found you a vertical of 6 vintages between 2013 and 2018 in Gigondas, elaborated by Bertrand Stehelin. The pleasure of being able to discover the evolution of the same wine and the differences brought by the "vintage effect".

Bertrand has been involved in the wine business since he was a child. In 2004, he took off and started by selecting the most beautiful plots of the family estate, located in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail in Gigondas. This allows him to create magnificent wines, full of character, perfectly expressing the very special terroir of Gigondas.

Bertrand is a passionate and approachable winemaker and this can be felt in his wines. They are warm and tasty.

His Gigondas is a blend of 70% old Grenache aged between 70 and 90 years old, 25% old Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre to bring colour and fullness to this incredible wine.  The vines are situated between 100 m and 300 m above sea level with north-western exposure, which brings freshness and great complexity.

The vinification is done in a traditional way in stainless steel tanks. The wine is matured for 24 months in oak barrels which will make the tannins softer and bring a remarkable velvet in the mouth.

You will be able to admire the evolution of the colour taking on an increasingly coppery colour. On the nose, the combination of red and black fruits will become more complex over the years and will then add notes of cocoa and roasted coffee, always with spicy notes. On the palate, the fresh attack will persist over the years, taking on a phenomenal aromatic dimension afterwards.

This experience will not leave you indifferent!
