2015 White, Piekenierskloof, Swartland, Afrique du Sud,
Nestled in the Citrusdal Mountains, about 50 kilometers north of Swartland, is the splendid plateau of Piekenierskloof. The plateau offers an ideal environment for growing vines. Located at 750 meters above sea level, the plateau's climate is characterized by warm days and cool nights, which allow the grapes to ripen slowly and develop complex aromas of fruit.
There are some of the oldest vines of the country. This treasure planted in 1954 had a first success when renowned winemakers (Sadie, Ellis, Forrester, ...) used them for some of their cuvées. In 2015, under the leadership of Charles Back, the decision was made to reserve these vines for the creation of a new line of wines under the name of Piekenierskloof. The grapes were picked by hand very early in the morning to preserve their quality. Aging 4 months in French and American oak barrels with a capacity of 500 liters.
The result ? Complex and round wines with an impressive freshness!
