2010 Ca'Di Pian, La Spinetta, Piemonte, Italy, DOCG Barbera D'Asti

When we look at the impressive CV of Giuseppe Rivetti, how could we describe this otherwise than a meteoric rise in the world of wine? He came back to his country, Italy, in 1977, after having lived for many years in Argentina. He bought vineyards in Castagnole Lanze . A year later, he produced his first Moscato d'Asti. In 1985 he produced his first red wine. Then a second, a third,... In less than twenty years, the Rivetti family has touched the heart of the most demanding enthusiasts wine styles of wine and grapes. Their extraordinary range of wines 'rhino' belongs to the top of the range, as well as the beautiful Barbera that nobody will refuse to drink. Since 2000, they also produce a Barolo.

The vineyards are situated on Castagnole Lanze Costigliole with 23 ha of vines (aged 6-20 years), 300m above sea level, south facing, with limestone soil.

Malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels in which the wine will remain for 12 months. The wine is then transferred to stainless steel tanks where it will rest for six months. The wine still remains two months in bottle before release. It is unfiltered and unclarified.

The malolactic fermentation is the conversion of malic acid into lactic acid, used to make the taste of wine rounder and softer.
