Fontarèche, which takes its name from the Latin « Fonte erecto » (the fountain that springs) is one of the great historic wine estates in the Languedoc.

In 1682, the Fontarèche Castle and its winery becomes the property of the Mignard family whoses descendants, the Lamy family, are the current owners of the estate.

The castle is located in Langudoc just a few kilometers from Lézignan-Corbières. The area is a perfect square of 200 ha around the buildings. Here flourishes , since almost always one might say, 160 ha of vines classified, half of AOP Corbières and half of Vin de Pays.

Its location makes it a castle where its nice to live. The canal du midi, the medieval city of Carcassonne, the Cathares Castles or the Mediterranean sea are located only a few kilometers away.

The alternation of soils allows to work on a great diversity of grape varieties. 17 are present on the property. The traditionnal Carignan, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre for red wines, the Picpoul noir for their rosé wine and the Roussane, Grenache blanc and Macabeu for the white wines. But some soils of the property also enables them to successfully reveal the qualities of great varieties such as Chardonnay, Viognier, Vermentino and Colombard for white wines and Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alicante Bouschet, Caladoc for red wines.
