2014 Chenin Blanc, Kaapzicht, 0.0, South Africa, Stellenbosch

The Kaapzicht wine estate is owned and run by the Steylter family and is located in the Stellenbosch district in South Africa. The Steytler family has farmed here since 1946 and Danie and his younger brother George are the 3rd generation owners of the estate.

The name "Kaapzicht" (Cape View) comes from the fantastic view from the hills over Cape Town and Table Mountain.

Since the first vintage was bottled in 1984, Kaapzicht has become highly respected for their good value for money, quality range of wines, having earned a multitude of local and international awards. For 3 generations the Steytler Family has been running their 190 hectare large estate hands-on: Brothers Danie and George being the winemaker and viticulturist and their wives being in charge of marketing and finances.

Their unirrigated vineyards are grown on old weathered granite soils on the north-western slopes of the Bottelary Hills, 30 km from the Atlantic Ocean and have thus a perfect combination of everything needed to create full bodied, fruity wines.

On 190 ha (162 ha under vineyards) they grow 70 % red cultivars (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Pinotage, Cinsaut, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Pinot Noir) and 30 % white cultivars (mainly Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, some Muscat and even Chardonnay).
