2023 Touraine Amboise, Closerie de Chanteloup, Loire Valley, France, Touraine Amboise AOC
The Closerie de Chanteloup is a family estate located a few kilometres from Amboise, in the heart of the Touraine-Amboise AOP, on the right bank of the Loire River. The vineyard is now run by Éric Santier, a winemaker deeply committed to a respectful and sustainable approach to viticulture.
The estate covers around 15 hectares, mainly planted with Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cot (Malbec) and Gamay, the historic grape varieties of the region. The vines grow on clay with flint and sandy soils over tuffeau limestone, typical of the Amboise area, which favour wines that are both precise and fresh.
Viticulture is conducted under organic farming, with great attention paid to soil life and the natural balance of the vine. In the cellar, the philosophy remains minimal intervention, with indigenous yeast fermentations, lees ageing, and a focus on preserving the aromatic purity and natural tension typical of Loire wines.
The wines of Closerie de Chanteloup stand out for their precise, digestible and distinctly Loire style, where freshness, clarity of fruit and expression of terroir take centre stage.
