Long established in Varrains, at the heart of the Saumur region, the Domaine Les Clos Maurice entered a new chapter in 2019 when it was taken over by François Baulé (Eximium company). He initiated an ambitious conversion to biodynamic farming, which was rewarded with Demeter certification in 2021.
Under his leadership, the estate’s wines adopted a fresh stylistic direction, with a modern interpretation of Cabernet Franc: vibrant purple hues, delicate floral aromas, and soft, refined textures. A graceful and approachable way to discover this great Loire varietal. The Chenin Blanc, for its part, yields wines of great purity – tense, saline, and crystalline – beautifully expressing the limestone-rich terroir.
Today, the estate is run by Nicolas Gaignon, who brings solid experience from Vignoble du Loup Blanc (Minervois) and Mas Champart (Saint-Chinian), continuing the estate’s evolution with precision and sensitivity.
