2009 Chusclan, Domaines Les Pialons, Côtes-du-Rhône, France, Côtes du Rhône Villages Chusclan
Long cold maceration of the grapes in order to obtain optimum extraction giving a deep color. Located on the right bank that has a rocky terrain forcing the roots to go deep and return back terroir elements to enrich the produced wines. The rolling stones will protect the grapes against the colder nights in September. The soil also contains marl on the hillsides.
Mediterranean climate with significant influence of the mistral where the grapes rarely suffer from typical diseases. Relatively low yield of 36 hectoliters per hectare, giving more concentrated wines. The vines have an average age of 40 years. Manual harvesting.
It is a small property in the hands of the family Verdeau. These are winemakers motivated to let the terroir speak in their wines.
