2006 Château Fortia Tradition, Côtes-du-Rhône, France, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The Château Fortia is one of the oldest domains of Châteauneuf du Pape. It probably already produced wine in the 14th century. The castle built in the 19th century is in Neo-Gothic style. Pierre Pastre manages the estate since 2004.

Owner is Baron Bruno Le Roy Boiseaumarié, who is responsible for the vineyard and the winemaking. He is also president of the Union of Producers.

30 hectares. Soil with clay, limestone and pebbles. After a manual harvest and strict sorting, the grapes are transported in small boxes, so they arrive at the winery in the best possible conditions. The grapes are destemmed. Fermentation takes place at per parcel and variety. Put in barrels for aging from 12 to 18 months depending the vintage. They will be fined and filtered before bottling.
