2010 Premier du Clos du Roy, Bordeaux, France, Lalande de Pomerol
Domaine of 3 hectares planted with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The soil contains gravel with rocks. Vines averaging 25 years. Traditional vinification with maceration of 25 days. Clearance with egg. Manual harvesting followed by rigorous selection.
The vineyards of the appellation Lalande-de-Pomerol are located north of Libourne near Pomerol, a small stream, Barbanne, separates the two soils. The vineyard of Lalande-de-Pomerol was developed by manufacturing monks, the Hospitallers of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, whose eight-pointed white cross is the symbol of the wines of the appellation. The wine were used for religious services but also for pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostela.
