1997 Château Lanessan, Bordeaux, France, Haut-Médoc

At the heart of the Haut-Médoc, in the town of Cussac-Fort Médoc, extend the Domaines Bouteiller composed of three internationally renowned vineyards, Château Lanessan Lachesnaye Castle and Chateau de Sainte Gemme.

In 1310: already a vineyard! With well conserved ancient scrolls, we go back with certainty to the 15th of January 1310. Under the reign of Edward, King of England and Duke of Guyenne, the Lady Paironne La Montagne, widow of Henry Lanessan, sold the property to Sir Blaignan.

May 17, 1793 the Delbos family became the owner of this prestigious vineyard.

1855 - The Forgotten ranking, Louis Delbos forgot to send samples while critics agree that the castle would have been classified as a fifth Cru.

1878 - The castle of Lanessan was built by André Delbos, in a neo-Tudor style representative of that period, while the cellars were built in the traditional Médoc style.

The family Bouteiller, the descendants of Delbos, still own the domain and try to combine modernity and tradition to develop their wines. 40 hectares of vines with a gravelly soil (Garonne gravel). Average age of vines: 30 - 32 years. Mechanical and manual harvesting. Harvest fully sorted on sorting tables. Vinification in stainless steel and concrete covered with epoxy resin. Maturing: traditional 16 - 18 months in oak barrels (French oak).
