2009 Moueix, Bordeaux, France, Pomerol
The ‘Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix’ sell exclusively to wholesale and only have red wines in their range, originating from the most prestigious domains of the Libournais, with a focus on Saint-Emilion and Pomerol.
Alsmost every year, the ‘castle bottled’ wines are sold in first (in the spring following the harvest), the rest will be brought to market after some years of maturing when the wine is ready for consumption. Millions of bottles are ‘sleeping’ in their cellars.
The Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix also have a second pillar built around wines in vrac (bulk) that they purchase from different producers and that they themselves let mature in their cellars in Libourne. This wine comes from this activity. It is a lovely Pomerol from a grand year, with an excellent price and a few years of maturing-potential ahead.
The same family is owner of Petrus on Pomerol. In the composition the Merlot-variety dominates.
