2015 Sauvignon Blanc Reserva, In Situ, Aconcagua Valley, Chile,

Viña San Esteban was founded by José Vicente, an established grape producer, and his son Horacio, a Bordeaux-trained winemaker, to produce quality Aconcagua Valley wines. Both father and son are proud to participate in the long-standing tradition of Chilean viticulture, and the lands which encompass the vineyard and the winery have been in the Vicente family for generations.

Horacio has a rich and diverse background in both winegrowing and winemaking. He has held positions in France at Château Mouton Rothschild and Mouton Cadet, and in the United States at Chalone Vineyard, one of the first boutique wineries in California. These experiences have undoubtedly helped Viña San Esteban to capture numerous regional, national, and international awards for winemaking excellence.

The Aconcagua Valley’s unique combination of soil, light, and water also plays an important role in the success of Viña San Esteban. The Upper Aconcagua terroirs are well-suited for winegrowing, producing a wide variety of quality grapes, and the In Situ family of wines, in particular, was created to showcase these terroirs as a premier winemaking region of Chile.

This Sauvignon Blanc is grown on a single parcel only 16 Km from the Pacific Ocean. The sandy soil lies on a clay bed, providing the roots with 30cm of well drained soil to explore and a block of clay to keep the water supply during the summer. The cool coastal breeze allows grapes to ripen gently and produce the distinctive fruitiness of the Coastal Aconcagua wines.
