2022 Monochrome, Domaine de l’Épeire, Languedoc-Rousillon, France, Côtes Catalanes IGP


Domaine de l’Épeire, founded by Philippe Petit in Baixas, is part of the new generation of Roussillon winemakers crafting highly precise natural wines. The vineyards are planted on schist and clay-limestone terroirs swept by the winds, in a very dry Mediterranean climate that promotes healthy and concentrated grapes.

Work in the vineyard is carried out with minimal inputs and great attention to the natural balance of soils and fermentations. In the cellar, winemaking favors indigenous yeasts, gentle infusions rather than heavy extraction, very little or no sulfur depending on the cuvée, and restrained ageing in order to preserve the energy of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. The estate’s wines are defined by their freshness, tension, and vibrant character, far removed from the heavy, sun-drenched profiles sometimes associated with Roussillon.
