Based in Château-Thébaud, south of Nantes, Famille Lieubeau has a winemaking history dating back to 1816. Today, Pierre and Chantal work alongside their three children, François, Vincent and Marie. Vincent, an agricultural engineer and oenologist, oversees the vineyards and winemaking.
The family has played an important role in promoting Muscadet’s Crus Communaux, a project in which Pierre Lieubeau has been involved since the 1990s. The estate is certified organic and seeks to reveal highly individual expressions of Melon de Bourgogne through its Goulaine, Clisson and Château-Thébaud crus. The wines are produced using hand-harvested grapes, indigenous yeasts and extended ageing on the lees in underground vats.
